~I'm cheating a little bit b/c I posted this on my other blog yesterday, and obviously I took it a couple of days ago. But I am sooo tired and I haven't had time to take any pix, and I like this, so here it is...
~Sometimes I forget that I live near the beach. This is the view from our cross-the-street neighbor's back yard (I zoomed this--it doesn't look quite this close....but still...)
~After college Woman Warrior took up painting for a while. I love this picture of the lake with the mountains on the other side. It's just painted on a piece of cardboard; I have it over my back door in the pantry.
~I see lots of wild life in my yard, but I rarely see cats--probably because there are coyotes in the area and it's not really safe to let cats roam. But this very large black cat wandered down the stone wall in the backyard early this morning.
~The weather late this afternoon was erratic...bright blue skies, rain, bright blue skies, snow showers, clean, more snow showers. Here the sun is peeking out after the first of the snow showers.
~This trunk sits in my foyer...and it isn't really my grandmother's trunk, but it is (I think) identical to the trunk my grandmother once owned.
~When I was little my grandparents lived in a small house in the country with a "pump house" where the water pump and washing machine were. The pump house was sort of scary, but it was intriguing because it was also the place my grandmother stored things, among them an old trunk full of old books. I always admired that old trunk and when I was grown she gave it to me. Unfortunately it wasn't stored properly and the bottom rusted out and it fell apart. I was always sad about that. So when I found this trunk at an antique store some years later, I knew I had to have it. Even though it wasn't hers, it reminds me of my grandmother.
~This is the first house I've lived in as an adult that had a formal dining room. It feels kind of empty and echoy, and we only use it when we have company. The trunk in the background is where the Kid keeps all his school stuff piled.
~I meant to take pictures outside this afternoon, but I took a nap instead. So I was wandering the house with the camera looking for a good shot when it occurred to me that I could just give you a house tour. So we'll start with the living room.
~The only thing you really can't see from these pictures is the bookcase that is on the wall opposite the fireplace. And the room is bigger than these pictures convey.
~I made it through the first month! I'm having fun with it, but there are days when I've been at work all day and it's getting late and I'm wondering what I can possibly take a picture of. Going to the city really helped out; I know I'm going to be looking for lots of inspiration as time goes by.
~My favorite? Not sure....I like the sun set, the blurry graffiti, my Northern flicker...
